A Talk: About Intervention for Children with ASD

P.L.A.I. was part of the talk organized by Autism HK about early intervention and resources in HK for children with Autism. We also helped with hosting and translating the afternoon talk on using an ABA technology, pivotal response training (PRT), in supporting children on the spectrum.

Parent Training Project
Dates: October to December 2015

P.L.A.I. worked with a TWGHs school to empower their parents through a parent training project. Through 8 sessions, the participants learned skills that support them to teach and manage their children's behaviours. We were super excited about this project as we truly believed that empowering the parents was one of the most important mission. The outcome of this project was positive. We are going to present this project in various conference in 2016.

Dianna was invited to speak for the International Music Therapy Centre (IMTC). She shared her experiences in practicing ABA to support children with ASD and ADHD in both Canada and HK. It was a fruitful experience to have had the chance to share and discuss the use of music therapy and ABA in supporting children.

Beautiful arts were used to fun raise for future projects in supporting individuals with ASD in HK. We are honoured to be part of this meaningful movement by being one of the experts providing talks for the general public about using ABA to support children with ASD.

This time, we shared a paper about providing ABA training in China in collaboration with colleagues from Tianjin China and Vancouver Canada. Also, we shared our experiences in using ABA to support children with ASD and ADHD in various school settings in HK.

ABA Training in Foshan (June & July 2015)
P.L.A.I. was invited to provide a four day training on ABA for parents and paraprofessionals in Foshan. It was amazing to have had the chance to share my expertise and experiences. We had lots of fun roleplaying the strategies and practicing during the training.

Expert Advisor for HKIE Research Project (2014 - 2015)
P.L.A.I. was keen on serving the community. We were very excited that Dianna provided consultation to local schools via a research at HKIE that aims at supporting teachers to better support students with special needs at mainstream schools.
Exchange Tour to Taiwan
Dates: April 6 - 10, 2015
As an expert advisor of a research project of HKIEd, Dianna was invited to join an exchange tour to Taiwan. In this tour, she visited a number of kindergarten, primary and secondary schools. It was a fruitful trip to learn that some schools in Taiwan are using the PBIS model as the framework to support their students, including those with special needs, in their schools.
