December is just around the corner. Christmas is coming. Do you have any plans for the upcoming holiday? Traveling is fun but can be difficult for children, especially for children with special needs, as well. Here are a few tips to make your travel more smoothly:
- Prepare your child for the travel. Use a social story or visual schedule to describe and explain what will happen during their Christmas holiday.
- When you are heading to places with long waits (usually there are lots of wait at the airport or amusement park, etc), have a waiting bag with special small portable toys. This way, you can keep your child occupied during these long waits
- Return a few days before school starts. Give your child some time to get back to their routine before school actually start. Start to adjust their sleep and wake up time if that has been disturbed during your travel. This will ease the child back to their normal routine easier.
