Behavioural Intervention
Behavioural intervention service provides direct individualized support for your child. Through play activities, we will address the area of communication, socialization, self-management skills, and academics skills while your child is having fun. Both structured and naturalistic approaches based on the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) are employed to best support your child’s learning. These teaching strategies may include discrete trials teaching (DTT), natural environment teaching, pivotal response training, etc. An individualized behaviour intervention plan will be developed based on your child’s learning needs. The most suitable teaching strategies will be employed.
Behavioural intervention service will include initial assessments, development of an individualized behaviour intervention plan, direct intervention and behaviour therapy with your child in the home, school, or community setting, ongoing evaluation of your child’s performances through assessment and data collection, and program revision based on data analysis. A progress report will be written every 3-4 months to guide program direction. This service will also include collaborating with and providing consultation to other professionals (e.g., occupational therapist (OT), speech and language pathologist (SLP), etc.).

Facilitated Playdate
Social skills are one of the most concerning issues for children with special needs, especially children with Autism and Asperger Syndrome. Facilitated playdates can provide an opportunity for the child to learn and practice targeted social skills. It also supports children to build friendships with their peers through fun activities. At P.L.A.I., we believe in helping children improving their quality of life by supporting their social skills development. This service provides an assessment at start to determine social skills targets. It then helps you to organize and facilitate playdates with your child and a peer to work on the target social skills.
School Consultation
School consultation service aims at supporting school staff to best support every student, including the student with special needs, in the school/ classroom setting. Many teachers and teaching assistants are keen on supporting all the students in their class. Yet, they may not have the most effective tools to do so. This service addresses behavioural, educational, and environmental issues pertaining to the student’s successful participation in school. Working closely with the administrators, teachers, and other school staff who are actively involved in the student’s education, we will develop an individualized education plan (IEP) that can best support the needs of the student.
Positive Behaviour Support
Positive behaviour support (PBS) is a collaborative, assessment-based process to develop effective, individualized interventions for persons with challenging behaviour. Based on the principles of ABA and other empirically validated interventions, PBS leads to support plans that focus on proactive and educative interventions. This service is most suitable for families who find daily routines (e.g., having a meal at the dining table, putting your child to bed, etc.) other families take for granted challenging.
PBS is initiated with functional behaviour assessments (FBA), which may include an ecological assessment, functional behaviour interview (FAI), functional behaviour observation (FAO), and functional analysis (FA) if necessary. Based on the assessment results, the behaviour consultant will collaborate with the people involved (e.g., parents, caregivers, teachers, administrators, etc.) to develop a PBS plan. Once the plan is developed, the behaviour consultant will support the implementation of the PBS plan through training, coaching, modeling, and other appropriate methods to ensure that the plan is implemented with integrity.

Parent/ Caregiver Training
Parents and caregivers spend significant amount of time with their children. There are a lot of teaching opportunities during daily routines, such as meal times, bath time, etc. This service will provide direct and hands-on training for parents and caregivers to teach their children important skills while having fun during daily routines at home and in the community. By collaborating with parents and caregivers, effective intervention will be developed to address the most important issues concerned the parents and caregiver and ensure consistent progress over time.
